REGIONAL UPDATES
SANTA CLARITA GROUP - March 25, 2004
March has been a busy month for the Santa Clarita LACBC group. Some of our membersmet with Newhall Land and Farm to talk about the trail links for the proposedNewhall Ranch and Riverpark developments. Commuting advocates met with the County to determine how best to preserve our bike routes out of town like the Old Road and Sierra Highway. We also had a talk with the MTA and the City of Santa Clarita about a joint Bike-To-Work day effort for May....more news on that next month! Finally, we met with traffic signal sensor technicians out on the road to see if they could better adjust the signal sensors at the intersections we listed as a concern. Hopefully soon you won't have to ride up the sidewalk ramp and push that pesky walk button just to get the light to change. We'll be having a meeting in April....more details will follow once we get guidance from the City on Bike To Work Day. It is expected that we'll need volunteers to help publicize the event, perhaps talk to a few local businesses, and do interviews with local newspapers about bike commuting. To get on the e-mail list to receive notices of Santa Clarita LACBC happenings, contact Maria Gutzeit at momdoggie@hotmail.com or call 661-670-0332.
